19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been won on hard surfaces

A revitalized Medvedev secured his first championship for over two years with a win over opponent Moutet in the competition title decider.

The athlete, a ex- top-ranked player, has endured a challenging year, achieving just one match at the big events and suffering a meltdown at the US Open.

The player's unpredictability on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his service game in especial - led to him exiting of the world's top 10 and ultimately parting ways with former mentor Gilles Cervara.

Currently working with Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has consistently improved in the recent weeks - climaxing in a hard-fought three-set triumph over opponent Moutet.

It is Medvedev's initial championship following the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard surface from March of the previous year.

The win also indicates the Russian has secured 21 victories at 21 various events.

"This marks the first occasion I have attended a event with my both daughters at once, so to win a trophy is particularly special," stated world number 14 the champion.

"This title is in dedication of my child Victoria, because the maiden victory I got when my child Alisa was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had failed in his past six championship matches, comprising in Halle earlier this year.

The player's counter-punching play style and frequent emotional displays on the tennis court had led some to doubt if his ability to compete at the elite level was over.

But the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the past month, striving to come to the net and play aggressively, reinforced by an enhanced service.

Medvedev recovered from a break down in the opening set against the tricky Moutet, winning four of the final five points to gain the advantage.

Both players exchanged service breaks in the second set before Moutet, bidding for his maiden tour title, seized the initiative to force a decider.

The opponent rescued four early-game opportunities in a close deciding set before the champion won the break to 15 to secure the win.

Suitably, Medvedev secured the title with a point at the net area, with the Frenchman unable to control a return after a lengthy match.
