🔗 Share this article The second-hand marketplace Shoppers Voice Displeasure About Size Changes Members of the platform have expressed outrage due to a modification that led to listings displaying inaccurate size information. The second-hand shopping app has updated its measurement guidelines for women's and children's clothes failing to inform all shoppers about the modification. Online Platforms Backlash Numerous buyers and vendors have taken to social media stating that platform listings now display a different size category versus the original listing as a result of the reclassification. The company said the updated approach better aligns with other platforms. They have suggested members to review their products and adjust the sizing manually if necessary, resulting in member annoyance. Measurement Approach Changes Previously, the measurements included one number and one letter, such as S/8 or M/10. The updated approach includes an alphabetical indicator and numerical range like S/UK 8-10. With some products, the sizing has been recategorised - like an L measurement was previously a 12 but is now a UK 16-18. Member Stories A fashion influencer, who produces content about larger sizing, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder". "Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," the way the service now categorizes. Another user, based in Glasgow, stated items she posted featuring size 14 markings were displaying on the service as measurements 20-22. "If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they will likely be quite upset," she explained. Manual Updates Another shopper, based in Derby, stated she felt frustrated due to the update requiring manual adjustment the measurements for "each individual item". "This situation is especially annoying, because of my ongoing medical condition and platform income has been essential following partial earnings loss," she explained. Marketplace Information The service features exceeding 100 million users, including 18 million in the UK. It has emerged as a preferred choice compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop. This isn't the first time when a surprising modification on the platform has faced criticism: earlier, the service retracted a modification regarding delivery choices after backlash from users.
